Step 1: Information

Application Due Date

You must complete this application no later than Thursday, May 12.
Applications received later than this may not be accepted.

Election Date

Current 7th Grade applicants do not need to attend elections, but they are welcome to do so.
Elections will take place during the Academy for all current 8th-11th Grade applicants on Sunday, May 15, from 5:00-7:00pm at the Academy. Graduating seniors may also attend and vote for the next generation of leaders.

Requirements

All Executive and General Board candidates must be registered for the 2022-2023 Academy in 8th-12th Grade in order to secure their elected position.
All Executive Board candidates must have previously served on the General or Executive Board.
All candidates for President must be in 11th Grade during their term, so only current 10th graders may apply.

Please note that even though you are indicating interest in multiple positions, each Board Member may only hold one position

Executive Board

Rank the two Executive Board positions you are interested in running for in the Election
If you are not elected to either of those positions, you will be slated in the General Board, so also rank the three General Board positions you are interested in holding

General Board

Rank the three positions you are interested in holding
Positions will be slated (assigned by staff) after the Executive Board Election
All candidates will receive a position

Step 3: The Application

Short Answer Responses

To ensure that you are giving appropriate consideration to the level of commitment and responsibility that is expected of YETI Board members, and to be sure that you have the skill-set and qualifications which will be required in your role as an officer, please respond to the following questions.
Suggested responses should be about a paragraph, but you are welcome to write as much as you would like.
Responses will be shared with voters in advance of the election.

Speech

Prepare a short speech that you will present at Elections
Speeches can be based on some of your responses below
If you're applying for the Executive Board: prepare a one-minute speech explaining why the group should vote for you for your indicated positions
If you're applying for the General Board: prepare a 30-second speech explaining why you're choosing to hold this leadership position

* Why do you want to be on the YETI Board? What do you hope to gain from this experience?

* What unique qualities or character traits can you bring to the Board? Why will your peers enjoy working with you?

* What qualifications do you have to serve in the positions listed above?

* What are some of the ideas you would like to try to implement as an officer in those positions?

* Aside from school, what are the other activities in which you participate? How do you think these activities might impact your ability to serve effectively in your role?

* Statement of Honesty and Authorization

I certify that all of my responses to the above questions are honest and sincere to the best of my ability. They come from my heart and represent my truest and most authentic self. I understand that there are no "correct" responses and that the thoughts I have shared will be used only by my peers to assess my capacity for effectiveness in the role(s) in which I have expressed my interest.

* I hereby sign this brit (agreement) along with my parent/guardian and the adult staff of Temple Israel to show my commitment to the YETI Board and to the youth organization as a whole. I agree to the above terms and will follow the given guidelines.

* I also understand that by serving on the Board, I am devoting a significant amount of my time to an extra-curricular activity. Academics and my schoolwork should come first, but I understand that my responsibilities as an officer must also be a high priority. I recognize that I will need to plan ahead in order to ensure that I can fully honor the commitments I have made to this organization, as well as any other clubs, teams, and activities of which I am a part. I know that there may be times when I have conflicts and cannot be as involved as I should be, and I also know that there may be other times when I need to take a step back from another organization in order to honor my responsibilities to this group. If at any point my grades in school, my behavior and/or attendance at events, and/or my commitment to my leadership role become problematic, my ability to sit on the Board may need to be re-assessed.

After-School Enrichment

Our after-school enrichment programs are a great way to supplement your child’s school day in a safe and age-appropriate environment. There are a wide variety of choices each semester to cater to your child’s individual interests.

Challah Registration

There is no more perfect way to celebrate the end of the school week and the beginning of Shabbat than with a yummy, freshly baked challah. Whether your child is bringing home chocolate chip or whole wheat, you will always be prepared for Friday Night with leftovers for French toast on Saturday morning!
