Responsibilities of all Officers
 
Attendance
All YETI Board members are responsible for attending the following events throughout the year. If you are unable to attend due to a legitimate conflict, you must notify the Youth Director in advance.
8 of 9 Academy Sundays from 5:30-8:00PM
8 of 9 Monthly YETI Board Meetings, held on Sundays preceding Academy nights
Executive Board 4:30-5:30PM
General Board 5:00-5:30PM
At least 2 YETI stand-alone events, i.e. Shabbat Dinner Club
At least 3 special temple events: i.e. High Holy Days, Rise Against Hunger, Project Ezra, Purim Carnival, Mitzvah Day, Teen Service & Senior Siyyum, Rockin’ Shabbat, etc.
YETI Board Training in September (specific date TBA)
Grade-Level Academy trip: Israel, Civil Rights Journey, and/or RAC
General Responsibilities
All YETI Board members are responsible for the following:
Acting, at all times, as a role model for the Jewish community
Acting, at all times, as an ambassador/spokesperson for the teens and youth of Temple Israel
Maintaining regular contact with the Youth Director and other members of the Board
Maintain regular contact with the general membership of YETI relating to events and other activities
Fulfill other duties that may arise after discussion with the Youth Director

Executive Board Responsibilities

President
In consultation with the Youth Director, oversee all other officers and the successful execution of the organization
Act as a liaison between the Youth Director and the YETI Board
Act as a liaison between the youth community and the temple’s Board of Trustees by attending monthly Temple Israel Board meetings as a nonvoting member
Work with the Youth Director to create agendas for board meetings, and then facilitate the execution of the those meetings
Maintain regular contact with all board members, and work with them to fulfill the responsibilities of their respective positions
Requirements:
Must have previously served on the Board (General or Exec)
Must be a Junior during their presidency - only current Sophomores may run
Must be registered for next year's Academy
Ability to attend most events, as outlined in Attendance policy above
Chair of the Board
In consultation with the Youth Director, act as an advisor to the President, providing them with guidance in overseeing all other officers and the successful execution of the organization
Maintain regular contact with President, and work with them to fulfill the responsibilities of their position
Encouraged to act as a liaison between the youth community and the temple’s Board of Trustees by attending monthly Temple Israel Board meetings as a nonvoting member
Requirements:
Must have previously served as the President
Must be registered for next year's Academy
Ability to attend most events, as outlined in Attendance policy above
Recruitment Vice President
Oversee participant recruitment and experience at all events
Ensure that all participants at events feel welcome and included
Maintain regular contact with the Grade Representatives, and work with them to fulfill the responsibilities of their respective positions
Requirements:
Must have previously served on the Board (General or Exec)
Must be registered for next year's Academy
Ability to attend most events, as outlined in Attendance policy above
Religious & Cultural Vice President
Oversee planning, promotion, and execution of Shabbat Dinner Clubs, High Holy Day teen participation, and Teen Service
Ensure that all events have a Jewish cultural connection
Strive to make Torah, worship, and Jewish study accessible, interesting, and engaging
Maintain regular contact with the Shabbat Dinner Club and HHD & Teen Service Representatives, and work with them to fulfill the responsibilities of their respective positions
Requirements:
Must have previously served on the Board (General or Exec)
Must be registered for next year's Academy
Ability to attend most events, as outlined in Attendance policy above, especially Shabbat Dinner Clubs on Friday nights, High Holy Day services, and Senior Siyyum
 
 
Social Action Vice President
Oversee planning, promotion, and execution of community service days and social justice projects at the Academy
Ensure that all programs and events have a Jewish social justice connection
Design and implement a number of quality programs that give back to Temple Israel or to the NYC, national, and/or global community at large
Be a liaison to any charities and organizations that YETI is working with
Maintain regular contact with the Community Service and Academy Social Justice Representatives, and work with them to fulfill the responsibilities of their respective positions
Requirements:
Must have previously served on the Board (General or Exec)
Must be registered for next year's Academy
Ability to attend most events, as outlined in Attendance policy above, especially temple-wide community service days and Academy sessions on Sunday evenings
Programming Vice President
Oversee planning and execution of team building activities and learning at the Academy
In consultation with the relevant Vice Presidents, oversee planning, promotion, and execution of all events
Maintain regular contact with the Academy Programming Representative, and work with them to fulfill the responsibilities of their position
Requirements:
Must have previously served on the Board (General or Exec)
Must be registered for next year's Academy
Ability to attend most events, as outlined in Attendance policy above, especially Academy sessions on Sunday evenings
Communications Vice President
In consultation with the relevant Vice Presidents, oversee promotion of all events
Maintain YETI’s social media platforms (Facebook, Snapchat, Instagram, Twitter, etc.)
Help design any YETI apparel, swag, or merchandise
Requirements:
Must have previously served on the Board (General or Exec)
Must be registered for next year's Academy
Ability to attend most events, as outlined in Attendance policy above

General Board Responsibilities

Grade Representatives (9th-12th)
Responsible for recruitment and promotion of events and trips within their grade cohort
Maintain regular contact with the Recruitment Vice President to promote and recruit for events
Represent the interests of their grade cohort at YETI Board meetings
Requirements:
Must be registered for next year's Academy
Ability to attend most events, as outlined in Attendance policy above
Shabbat Dinner Club Representative
Responsible for planning and promotion of Shabbat Dinner Clubs
Maintain regular contact with the Religious & Cultural Vice President to promote, plan, and execute Shabbat Dinner Clubs
Increase and maintain attendance of teens at both services and dinner on the nights of Shabbat Dinner Club events
Requirements:
Must be registered for next year's Academy
Ability to attend most events, as outlined in Attendance policy above, especially Shabbat Dinner Clubs on Friday nights
Community Service Representative
Responsible for promotion of teen participation at temple-wide events, such as Rise Against Hunger, Project Ezra, Purim Carnival, and Super Sunday
Maintain regular contact with the Social Action Vice President to implement teen participation at temple-wide community service events
Requirements:
Must be registered for next year's Academy
Ability to attend most events, as outlined in Attendance policy above, especially temple-wide community service events on Sunday mornings/afternoons
Academy Social Justice Representative
Act as a liaison between the Youth Director and the teen population in determining social justice topics for the Academy
Maintain regular contact with the Social Action Vice President to implement social justice projects at the Academy
Responsible for coordinating social justice projects at Academy evenings
Lead at least one social justice project at an Academy evening
When not leading the project, act as a liaison between the Youth Director and the teen leading the project
Requirements:
Must be registered for next year's Academy
Ability to attend most events, as outlined in Attendance policy above, especially Academy sessions on Sunday evenings
Academy Programming Representative
Act as a liaison between the Youth Director and the teen population in determining learning topics for the Academy
Maintain regular contact with the Programming Vice President to implement learning and team building activities at the Academy
Responsible for coordinating team building activities at Academy evenings
Lead at least one team building activity at an Academy evening
When not leading the activity, act as a liaison between the Youth Director and the teen leading the activity
Requirements:
Must be registered for next year's Academy
Ability to attend most events, as outlined in Attendance policy above, especially Academy sessions on Sunday evenings
HHD & Teen Service Representative
Responsible for promotion of teen participation at High Holy Day services
Responsible for planning and promotion of Senior Siyyum service
Maintain regular contact with the Religious & Cultural Vice President to implement teen participation at High Holy Day services and Senior Siyyum
Requirements:
Must be registered for next year's Academy
Ability to attend most events, as outlined in Attendance policy above, especially High Holy Day services and Senior Siyyum
Must be a Senior during their presidency - only current Juniors may run

If contested, traditional election.
